We’ll start our journey with a morning departure from your hotel, setting off toward the beautiful Konavle region, just 25 miles east of Dubrovnik. Our first stop is the charming village of Gruda, where the historic
Đivanović mill awaits us on the banks of the Ljuta River. This 400-year-old mill, once vital to the region, has been lovingly restored by its owner, Mr. Ivo Đivanović. Here, we’ll have an opportunity to observe traditional
methods of wool processing and flour milling, seeing firsthand how these essential materials were produced centuries ago.
As we listen to the soothing flow of the Ljuta River, we’ll enjoy sampling local flavors – Dalmatian prosciutto, fresh cheese, and olives. Following the delicious snack, we continue to the village of Čilipi, where we will visit the Novaković household,
a classic example of a Konavle village home. Here, you’ll savor an authentic dish cooked “under the peka,” a centuries-old method that draws out the deep, rich flavors of local ingredients.
Following lunch, we’ll tour the property as our host introduces us to the fascinating customs and lifestyle of the Konavle families, both past and present. Their stories bring the enduring traditions of this warm community to life.
Our final destination is Cavtat, Croatia’s southernmost town. Strolling through the scenic Rat peninsula, we’ll be accompanied by a local guide who will entertain us with stories about the Konavle people,
their customs, and lively traditions. You’ll even have a chance to judge for yourself whether the famed local "stinginess" is fact or fiction!
Join us for a journey through time, flavor, and local spirit in Konavle – a place where history and tradition meet the present in unforgettable ways.
